Success for Dig Deep Athletes at National CyloCross Championships

Jan 16, 2018

Dig Deep Coaching athletes had fantastic success across different nations at the recent National Cyclo Cross Championships in many different categories. The hard work and dedication put in over the Summer and Autumn months has come to the fore during the winter as results begin to show. We are extremely proud of our athletes achieving their goals and surpassing their ambitions to reach to new fitness hights.

In the UK we had Dig Deep Coach and one of the world's leading Cyclo Cross riders Ian Field battle it out for the win in the Elite race, the previous 5 time winner finished a fantastic 2nd place in a hard fought day. Ian has come back from a illness that has hampered his preparation over December but his performacnes on Sunday shows he is coming back to form for the end of the Cross season. Dig Deep athlete Steven James also had a great race in the Elite category where he finished 9th, incrediable result for the rider also competing in the 40-45yr category.

In the 40-45yr category in the UK championship we had 2 riders on the podium, Steven James finished an incrediable 2nd place (along with a 9th in the Elite race) and Neil Ellison came back from a early crash to make his way through the field again to finish a fantastic 3rd. Andy Taylor was also in the mix with a great ride in 6th place in the 40-45 category.

Success continued with Claire Menard competing in the French National Junior Championships when she finished a great 16th place in the high competitive French Junior scene. Great result from the young French rider after a number of solid results in regional French races this season. Michael McMullan also had a good ride in the Irish Vet's race when he placed 31st in the large field the fought out in the muddy conditions in the Irish Champs on Sunday past, this is on the back of some great performances in recent weeks from Michael.

In the British Junior category Finn Mansfield has bad luck as he fought it out to finish 32nd after being in the top 10 before a series of mechanicals seen him slip down the field later in the race. In the U23 category young talent Harry Yates made a great ride to finish 11th in the highly fought British U23 race, Harry has made the tranition to U23 from Junior in fantastic fashion and shows his ability in the Cyclo Cross scene.

We would like to congratulate all our athletes on their performances and personal achievements across the different nations and category's.
