- Who We Are
The 2012 edition of Cody's Challenge, held on the 21st October in Richhill, attracted over 450 participants with riders coming from all parts of Ireland to support Children’s Heartbeat Trust.
A unique event whereby every penny from entry fees and donations went directly to the charity with the total raised reaching £8,500. The day proved to be a tremendous success for the charity and organisers of the event - Steady Cycling Club (based in Co Armagh), the Gallagher family and friends and Dig Deep Coaching.
The 3 routes which consisted of an 11 mile beginner’s route along with 50 and 70 mile routes proved popular with the riders who enjoyed undulating terrain and pleasant weather, making it both a challenging and enjoyable experience for all. The food stop at Aghaloo GAA club in Aughnacloy was a hit with everyone wanting to rest for 5 minutes with some well deserved refreshments before the final 25 mile push home. With a fully supported event from the PSNI along with a team of marshals and motor vehicle backup ensured everyone came home safe and sound to the finish venue of Richhill Recreation Centre where a large selection of sandwiches, food, cakes, soup and drinks awaited the participants on their return. Many of these were kindly donated and much appreciated by all.
On behalf of the charity and the Gallagher family I would like to thank all the people who helped organise and assist in the running of the event, especially the large number of Steady Cycling Club members who gave of their time, the local businesses who provided much needed supplies and individuals who travelled from afar to help make this a safe and enjoyable event. We are also greatly appreciative of each individual, friend and family member who turned up to support us on the day and take part in our event to aid a local charity that is vital in providing help support to children and families dealing with heart disease in Northern Ireland.
Thanks to everyone for their support.
See you again next year!
